Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS EXECUTIVE COACHING?

Coaches partner with clients to develop larger goals, help the client identify and overcome obstacles, hold the client accountable, and ultimately achieve goals. Working with a coach closes the gap between where a client gets stuck and where a client maximizes to full potential. Coaches are like jumper cables in getting each client to a happier and more successful experience while accomplishing goals.

The field of coaching is based on psychology, organizational development, sports, business, and spirituality. The International Coaching Federation defines coaching as “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.”

Executive coaching was once only available to a company’s CEO, but now it is seen as one of the primary development tools for most corporate positions as well as for entrepreneurs, small business leaders, and non-profit managers.

HOW DOES A COACHING SESSION LOOK?

Most sessions are done over a video conferencing system like Zoom. Clients set the agenda for what topic they would like to tackle first, so each session is client-led and client-centered. Video sessions typically last between 50-60 minutes, although the first few maybe longer.

Meetings begin with a follow up to previous session goals or "homework" that the client has done. Sessions progress through a deep dive into the subject of the meeting and end with agreement on goals. Follow-up during the week may include texting and emails depending upon the arrangement.

CAN WE WORK TOGETHER IN PERSON?

We are based in Colorado, and we work with clients from the UK to Japan.

We love working with clients in person! Individual coaching packages offered by MNDFL LDR have in-person meetings built into them. Check with our team for travel availability.

We are also highly effective while working with clients remotely. We have an exceptional ability to get to know you and your team—from anywhere—and offer coaching that makes a lasting impact.

HOW LONG DO CLIENTS TYPICALLY WORK WITH A COACH?

Most clients sign up for a three-to-six-month package, and most of those choose to stay longer. Often the reason the client signs up is not the same reason they stay. Coaching is an evolutionary experience. As growth occurs, coaches and clients work together on solutions to new challenges.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF COACHING?

Coaching comes from the perspective that the client knows what is best. The coach knows that the client is whole and not broken. The coaching relationship is one of equals working with each other to break through obstacles. The benefits of coaching are tailored to each client, but a few of the benefits could include these:

  • A greater sense of self-awareness

  • Performance improvement

  • Greater clarity and success around goals and objectives

  • Increased ability to identify solutions to issues

  • A greater sense of ownership in one's professional role and personal life

  • A more mindful leadership presence

  • An increase in one's sense of self-responsibly and self-efficacy

  • Improved relationships

  • Improved sense of overall life satisfaction

WHAT IS THE INVESTMENT?

According to multiple studies and surveys, there is a significant ROI for both the company and the individual. A Fortune 500 Company concluded that Executive Coaching produced a 788% ROI, excluding the benefits from employee retention, a 529% ROI was produced. ("Executive Briefing: Case Study on the ROI of Executive Coaching,” Merrill C. Anderson, Ph.D., MetrixGlobal, LLC).

Manchester, Inc. surveyed 100 executives. Research showed that a company's investment in Executive Coaching realized an average ROI of almost six times the cost of the coaching. ("Maximizing the Impact of Executive Coaching,” The Manchester Review, Volume 6, Number 1, Joy McGovern, etc.) A quick google search will yield many more studies and surveys.

In most situations, executive coaching pays for its financial investment multiple times over. Most clients choose packages between three and six months, starting at $3400.

In addition to the financial costs associated with coaching, there is another cost—the cost for clients of doing the real work that comes with a coaching relationship. The more personal work each client does, the greater success each client achieves.

ARE YOU AND YOUR ASSOCIATES CERTIFIED AND DOES IT MATTER?

Yes, yes, and maybe. Our founder, Clifton, coached for several years before he graduated from an 18 month ICF-Accredited Coach Training Program (ACTP). He is a certified coach (CPC) through the largest coaching certification organization in the world, the International Coaching Federation. The ICF has high standards and a strict code of ethics. He believes the training made him a far better coach than he was before he took the course.

Our partner coaches are also certified. On the other hand, there are some great coaches out there, uncertified, who get great results. The key for clients is to find the right fit. We have an excellent track record, extensive experience, and the training to back up our ideas.

WHERE DO I START?

MNDFL LDR, as well as most coaches, start with a call to get to know each other. The coach wants to hear the client's goals and expectations. The client may get comfortable with the coach and develop a plan for moving forward. This discussion may include practical assessments, the structure of the relationship, meeting times, expectations of the client and coach, and so forth. We will be happy to discuss options with you.
