When to use it

Moments that call for a facilitator

Some conversations are too important for the leader to run and take part in at the same time. A skilled, neutral facilitator lets everyone engage fully.

Setting direction

Strategy, priorities or a new plan that the whole team needs to own.

A difficult conversation

Tension, disagreement or a decision that keeps getting avoided.

A new team forming

New members, a new leader or a new structure that needs a shared way of working.

An offsite that should matter

You want the time together to produce decisions, not just discussion.

How it works

How a facilitated session comes together

Preparation is where most of the value is created, so the session itself can focus on what matters.

Listen first

Conversations with the leader and key participants to understand goals, tensions and what success looks like.

Design the session

A clear agenda and process built around the outcomes you need.

Facilitate the room

Clifton guides the conversation so every voice is heard and the group reaches real agreements.

Follow through

Agreements and next steps are captured, with optional follow-up coaching to keep momentum.

What changes

What teams leave with

  • Shared priorities everyone can explain
  • Decisions that were actually made
  • Hard topics addressed, not avoided
  • Clear owners and next steps
  • More trust between leaders
  • A plan for keeping momentum
Questions

Common questions

How long is a facilitated session?

It depends on the goal. It can be a focused half-day session or a multi-day offsite, designed around what the team needs to achieve.

Can it be virtual?

Yes. Sessions can run in person or virtually. In-person sessions can be arranged in Atlanta and elsewhere.

What is the difference from team coaching?

Facilitation focuses on a specific session or offsite and its outcomes. Team coaching works with a team over time on how it operates. Many teams combine the two.
